Pre-Debut
Pre-debut, the company stated that the group's image and sound would be heavily based off The Pussycat Dolls. It was also mentioned that the group would be "the kind of group Korea has never seen". Due to leaked pictures, the group already sparked image controversy before they got to debut. After their debut, however, the group had an interview, stating that they weren't a "complete copy".

After the group's first performance on MBC's Music Core January 17, 2009, the sparked controversy of being a PCD copy was dimmed, then later diminished. January 15, they released their digital debut single, "New Schoolgirl", which had positive claims.
Their second single, "Diva", was an upbeat song that mixed hip hop beats with electronica. Promotion started on April 9, 2009.
